Applications of Infrared Training

Infrared training includes all those practices that are required to develop the skills of using infrared equipment in construction, casualty management teams. It mainly involves the use of the infrared camera or the thermo-graphic camera. It is also used on occasion in crime scene investigation. The concept that black body radiation comes from all objects depending on their temperatures and is captured by Infrared devices, as they uses a band of wavelengths which are beyond the visible spectrum (hence invisible to the naked eye), is used by this camera.

Infrared training prepares one to use these devices to pin point thermo-graphic activity such as heating and cooling. This is why it is used by energy auditors to detect leakage of air conditioning and heating in a room. IR (infrared) devices have excellent accuracy so these areas can be pin pointed. This can be done with the best possible ease and least expense of time, so that documentation can be carried out speedily; hence issues pending such reports can be cleared quickly with the intervention of infrared technology. Even better is the feature that this device is non-invasive and does not require more setup, causing more damage and delay in case of sensitive site like a crime scene. Water leakage, flood damage to building materials, numerical value for the extent of damage, possible sources of moisture can all be assessed with the help of an infrared camera, provided the operations are carried out by a skilled user with sound infrared training.
